Fuel cooler? Yep. We installed one of these on the Insight 1G. In our research about the 1.2L TDI installed in the VW Lupo 3L we learned that a fuel cooler was installed. At is turns out, the fuel injectors add a significant amount of heat to the fuel as it is pressurized for injection. During each injection cycle the majority of the fuel is bypassed for return to the fuel tank. VW was concerned with all the heat added to the fuel and a plastic fuel tank there might be melting problems. So, it added a robust fuel cooler to take care of the problem. We took VW's fuel cooler pulled from our donor Lupo 3L and installed it on the Insight 1G. Problem solved.
