These are some of the technologies that make Red Light Racing's entry for the Progressive Automotive X Prize possible. RLR is a lean private organization and as a result has neither the time nor financial backing to build a highly fuel efficient vehicle from the ground up. Our pragmatic approach to engineering has made ecomodding existing technology the clear path to success. As you can see below, we're leveraging what the best and brightest minds in the automotive field have delivered in terms of vehicle optimization--technologies that are available to almost anyone anywhere right now. Simply put, we're turning to with existing levers that cost hundreds of millions of dollars to develop and will move the world to unprecedented automotive fuel efficiency.

Honda Insight: The hard candy shell of the Insight 1G.

 Fast Silver Insight

The story of the Honda Insight lies in how it melds the use of advanced technologies with the goal of creating a cleaner & more efficient car that people will want to own & drive.
  Clean & efficient
A car like the Honda Insight shows that it is possible to create vehicles that are much cleaner and more energy efficient than the typical car sold today.
  Advanced Technology
The Honda Insight is best known for being a "hybrid" gasoline-electric propelled car. While there is a lot of advanced technology that went into the hybrid powertrain, just as significant is the Insight's very aerodynamic, light and strong aluminum-alloy body.
  Behind the Wheel
Honda recognized that in order for a car like the Insight to succeed, it can't be simply a technological showcase or an environmental marvel. It also has to be a car that people like you and I will want to own and drive.
